PROGRAMS

NONPROFIT EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATION

Literacy for Adults in Brevard is a nonprofit educational organization that is different from most literacy programs in the county. LAB’s specialty is a concentration on one student at a time with one tutor. This enables LAB to concentrate on working with those adult students who may have challenges learning in a classroom setting as an adult in a library near their home.

Listed here you will find the programs across Brevard County we are aware of that offer Adult Education in classroom formats and online.

BASIC ENGLISH

EVERYDAY COMMUNICATION

Basic English was defined in the 1930’s by a British linguist who identified 850 words as the minimum grammar and vocabulary necessary for everyday communication. Basic English today is the ability to speak, write and communicate at a fourth-grade level.

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE

ESL

English is taught to adults whose main language is not English and who live in a country where English is the official or main language. Many of our international students want to attend higher education in the United States and require help in preparing for the TOEFL iBT and IELTS tests.

CONVERSATIONAL CAFES

EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO COME

The Literacy for Adults in Brevard (LAB) Conversational Cafes are not really set in a café. In various Brevard County Libraries, we strive to achieve a relaxed atmosphere for friendly conversation. Everyone is welcomed to come and practice speaking English in a conversational way, including all those who are not enrolled in any kind of adult literacy program but wish to become more comfortable speaking in English. Call 321-301-4496 or email: literacyforadultsinbrevard@gmail.com for more information.
